Brazilian Football Calendar in 2019: check out the main dates defined by the CBF

A Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) released the Brazilian football calendar for 2019 last October. Among the main highlights are the finals of the state championships, which will take place in April 2019.

In September, fans who love seeing their idols up close in football stadiums sports synthetic grass or natural grass will know the winner of the Copa do Brasil.

The finals of the Brazilian Football Championship and the Libertadores and South American Cups are set for the months of November and December.

Brazilian Football Calendar for 2019

Brazilian Championship – Series A and B

According to the calendar stipulated by the CBF, the Brazilian Series A and B Championship will begin in April.

Serie A starts on April 28th and on December 8th fans will know who takes home the trophy. Series B starts on April 27th, with the decisive match already scheduled for November 30th.

Copa do Brasil

The ball starts rolling for the Copa do Brasil on February 6th; The final round-trip matches are scheduled for September 4th and 11th.

Check the dates determined for other national competitions:

  • March 6 – Start of the first round of the Libertadores group stage;
  • The Copa Libertadores final is scheduled for November 23 (Ash Wednesday);
  • Start of Pre-Libertadores on February 6th;
  • Copa Sudamericana will be held from February 6th to November 9th;
  • State championships will take place between January 20th and April 21st.

Two other new features are that night games will start until 21:30 pm and there will be a reduction of one week in the interval between the round-trip matches of the quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals of the Copa do Brasil.

The CBF also maintained its decision not to interrupt the championships played by Brazilian clubs during FIFA dates.

If any player from Brazilian clubs is called up by national teams, the clubs must release them.
